ACTH (1-39) / Adrenocorticotropic Hormone 1-39

ACTH (1-39), or Adrenocorticotropic Hormone 1-39, is a 39-amino-acid peptide hormone. Endogenous ACTH is primarily produced by the anterior pituitary and is generated through processing of the precursor protein POMC (proopiomelanocortin).

ACTH is an important signaling molecule within the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Its classical biological activity involves interaction with MC2R (Melanocortin 2 Receptor) on adrenal cortical cells and participation in signaling pathways associated with adrenal steroidogenesis.

In endocrine and cellular research, ACTH (1-39) is studied in connection with MC2R activation, adrenal cortex signaling, steroidogenesis, physiological stress-response pathways, and regulation of the HPA axis.

ACTH (1-39) can also serve as a research tool for investigating relationships between corticotropic signaling and endocrine pathways, as well as cellular responses of adrenal tissue to hormonal stimulation.
