VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide)

VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide naturally distributed throughout the nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, and other tissues. Its biological activity is primarily associated with VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors and is closely related to research involving the PACAP/VIP receptor family.

In life science research, VIP is investigated in connection with VIP receptor activation, vascular smooth-muscle signaling, neurotransmitter regulation, immune and inflammatory signaling, and gastrointestinal physiology. Research also examines VIP-mediated intracellular pathways, including cAMP signaling, and their functions across different cellular and tissue models.
